From "I Do" to Forever: Ways to Preserve Your Wedding Bouquet
Your wedding bouquet is more than just flowers - it's a beautiful symbol of your special day. But unlike the memories, these blooms won't last forever. If you'd love to hold onto a piece of your wedding day, there are many creative ways to preserve your bouquet. Here are a few ideas to inspire you:
Capture the Beauty in Paint: Commission a painting of your bouquet. This creates a stunning keepsake that you can display in your home for years to come. This method is great when the flowers have already died, as you don’t need the actual flowers-just a photo! This is also an easy way to gift flower preservation if you are not in possession of the bouquet. See my bouquet portrait page to order yours today!
The Classic: Drying: Drying is a time-tested method of floral preservation. Hang your bouquet upside down in a cool, dark, and well-ventilated place. After a few weeks, the flowers will be dry and can be arranged in a shadow box or another decorative container.
Pressed Flowers: This method flattens and preserves the flowers between two absorbent materials, like heavy paper or fabric. Pressed flowers can be used in scrapbooking, framing, collage, or other art.
For these methods, I highly recommend PA Floral Preservation! She preserved my wedding flowers in a stunning framed piece that I love so much,
A Modern Touch: Resin: Floral preservation in resin is a relatively new technique that creates a 3D display. The flowers are carefully arranged and encased in clear resin, resulting in a contemporary keepsake that could be used as decor and/or functionally, such as a ring dish.
Glycerin Glyde: This method involves replacing the water content of the flowers with a glycerin solution. The flowers retain a more flexible and lifelike quality than air drying, though the colors may subdue somewhat.
No matter which method you choose, preserving your wedding bouquet is a wonderful way to keep a cherished piece of your wedding day with you forever. What makes a bouquet painting a perfect choice, though, is that all you need is a photograph, and it allows you to preserve your flowers in multiple methods - you can preserve the actual flowers and then also have a painting!
